First Dinner:I arrived, met...

First Dinner:


I arrived, met, ate from the "taco man", a cheery little hispanic man who travels and caters authentic mexican cuisine.    
I remember  thinking a million things. I literally stepped off my plane, jumped into some strange mans car ( by strange I guess I really mean a stranger) and arrive in Alhambra (a city within Los Angeles so to speak) where I met the staff and fellow interns for the summer. Awkwardness filled the air as we juggled around eachother asking the same ol' standard questions: Where are you from and Why are you here? Tempted to spice up the 18th conversation, I resisted and gave the true answer of "michigan and Im not really sure yet" but found agreeing points within each conversation about a passion for ministry and an intrigue in the unique culture ( or to use a mosaic word: "ethos" ) and vision of Erwin Mcmanus and the Mosaic community. The sun set and much of my memory is blurred

episode 6: its been too long.

IVE ARRIVED!


Here I sit in an apartment in Los Angeles, CA.

It becomes increasingly more real each hour.

I will write more later but I just wanted to give a quick note that I am alive and well.

I am thoroughly enjoying my time and appreciate all of your love and support.
I will give more stories and updates as the storm settles briefly before another hits....

Its going to be a busy, amazing summer.....

episode 5: decisions

Hi everyone!

 

Im sorry it has been so long....

 

15 days.

 

I feel like everything has crept up on me so quickly!!

 

However,

I am afraid of my financial situation and need much prayer.

I have the $2,000 needed to pay mosaic but the additional $150-$200 needed for weekly expenses ($1500-$2000) isnt sitting in my savings account, the plane ticket stole what was there and very little will accumulate in the next two weeks.....

How do I decide whether I can afford to go or not?

How do I make sure I trust God and allow him to do something huge and not leave Mosaic hanging?

 

 

Ah,

 

never have I had the stress of money.

I say leave it to the birds...

 

It isnt something I am liking.

episode 4: one month and that blasted money story.

Exactly ONE measly month until I board flight 351 and head the the west coast...

I received an email and have started meeting the fellow interns.


I am trying to remain calm and collected but........


the pressures building. 

I am so excited. 
I am so nervous.
I am so unprepared.
I am so scared.
I am so dang excited..........


However, with the email introducing the interns It was revealed to me that in addition to the 2,000 being paid to Mosaic, I need roughly an addition 2,000 for living....


Oy Vey.

This is where I trust God and wait...
(and work my buns off making money in any possible way I can......

episode 3: Pastor brings Jesus into L.A dance club?


Not much has changed since last time....

And so, only a few things to note:

1. I found a subletter for my apartment!!!!!!!!!  

SAD news: I will be moving out May 1st in effort to save some money.
Good bye perfect martha stewart apartment: Hello, nomadic living in car.  ( Kidding.... kinda?)
Not to mention, the 1st is in 4 days. . . 

haha. the adventures are endless...

episode 1: goodbye starbucks, hello los angeles.

Thank you so much for stopping by the blog! It is still under construction and the kinks and links will be developing as June quickly approaches! Hopefully we will be a well oiled machine by the time I get shipped over to the pacific time zone and join my fellow "Barbarians". I appreciate your support so unbelievably much. I cant even express it over this cyber world how thankful I am. :)

And so, 

As I type this, the envelope with your name on it is sitting beside me. I am licking the envelopes and sticking the stamps but by the time you read this, it will have traveled through a myriad of different hands and arrived in your mail box.


I am sitting at the local starbucks, my home away from home. The place where sadly until seconds ago, I felt no remorse in purchasing a coffee for $3.87.  But looking at the journey ahead,  I felt that pang of first remorse. A little cricket, whispers "Sara". I dont even need to hear the rest. I know the truth. And so, Im typing here at a corporate american funeral. I understand Im laying the melodrama on real thick, but its mostly laced with sarcasm. :)  But, I can only say mostly because secretly ( or not so secretly), I am already plotting how I can linger long enough for my barista ( the official coffee makers) friends to slide me a soy chai samples. I hope your finding some humor in the frivolity of my drama and understand that in all reality, while  I do feel a little mourning in the need to give up my over-priced coffees, I am more than willing to  put my multi-weekly $3.87 to good use. 

And so, mourn with me.

Im going to linger and soak up the smells as long as I can...

Until June 5, I will be only use the gift card that is left in my purse to purchase beverages from Starbucks.
